You seem to think there might be a bug in Scintilla/SciTE? Do you actually know your PHP? Because all I can see in your exemplar snippet is that backslashes AT THE END of a single-quoted PHP string literal need to be escaped - with a backslash, i.e., doubled. ;)

From the PHP manual @ php.net:

"If a backslash needs to occur before a single quote or at the end of the string, you need to double it. Note that if you try to escape any other character, the backslash will also be printed! So usually there is no need to escape the backslash itself."

I already made the same remark and quote... in SF.net.
I used to do the same as you, but now I think answering to the mailing list is useless (more or less) because the poster of the bug report might not read it. Of course, your remark might be of interest of regular readers of the ML, but those interested by the problem might have already took a look at the SF.net page.

Just my 0.02€... :-)

... which is worth more than my $0.02USD - but only in a strictly monetary "sense" - thanks, Philippe. ;)

(Actually, I assume the part of the above humor that depends on "sense" sounding the same as "cents" doesn't really translate well.)

Hmmm - if Neil (or others) wants to confirm that answering this class of posts is essentially useless, I can quit. Wow. What will I do with all the time I save? :)
