Open Selected Filename
This command opens the file for the file name selected in either the
edit or output pane. It searches around the caret to try to find a
file name based on which characters are normally used in file names.
If there is no extension then an extension may be inferred from the
current file using the open.suffix property with .properties assumed
when in a .properties file. If the file name is followed by a number
(in a format similar to ctags, grep output, or Visual Studio messages)
then that line is displayed in the opened file. On Windows web, ftp,
mail and news URLs are handled by opening another application.
Is there anything more needed?

Yes, but its one of the features that is sometimes useful but not as
often required as others so it shouldn't be emphasised too much. A
nicely edited version can go in but don't know when I'll have time.
I use it quite frequently, so I am happy I had coded it... ;-)
I am not in urge, after all this feature is "sleeping" in the dark for
some years already :-D
So I thank you for coming up with this concise yet precise summary in
such a short time.
Perhaps alternate wordings:
"It uses the current selection or searches around the caret to try to
find a file name based on which characters are normally used in a path."
"using the open.suffix property which defaults to .properties in a
.properties file"
and
"On Windows, web, ftp, mail and news URLs are handled by opening their
associated application."
A sentence on default dir/openpath (mmm, little inconsistency with
open.filter and open.suffix...) would make it perfect! :-D
