This is from scintilla-temp where I unwittingly posted asking about a problem I'm having with SciTE:

It's ironic mentioning gedit, since that's exactly one of the reasons I've been looking for another text editor. When I was on Windows I used Notepad++ which is based on scintilla and it was really great, so I was excited when I found SciTE (and still am), but this is functionality I just don't understand the reason for. How is one to use this great selection buffer feature when trying to paste to a new line if one cannot first left click so as to hit return? I can say that the selection buffer works between multiple tabs if I use the keyboard to switch between them, so it's not a matter of a tab being dormant.

I also don't like that the selection buffer is pasted to where the middleclick occurs rather than where the caret is, but I consider that a secondary issue. Does anyone know of any patches to these ends? If not, I'll see if I can write one myself. Maybe in all of this, I'm just too used to my terminal's setup. I use my terminal constantly for file management, system control, etc, so it's become ingrained.
