Another thing that I should note is that the pre-built binary download
'gscite172.tgz' works on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS but it doesn't do any "color context
highlighting" and the 'language' menu is not accessible -- thus my reason for
"building from scratch".
Had similar issues with the all-in-one "exe" download for Windows (can't use
one's own [or edited] "properties" files) which is why I had to resort to a
"compile from source" there -- and, happily, it worked!
