with a router you can just simply manually change the MAC and then reboot it and get a 
new ip, but if you can capture a few of them tftp packets you could edit the file 
because with the right address and location you can manually get the file like the 
cablemodem does( i had the file name it downloaded and the format it used a while back 
when I was messing with it more) and run your own tftp server on the same port it does 
and of course set your localip accordingly and then it will just go local for the file.

or make life easier and call cable one and tell them you want the big doller package, 
and reboot your modem.  pay for it a couple days, call and cancel but dont reboot your 
cable modem. ( dont do this really, give your money to the same people that are taking 
your ports away one by one)

i am not saying this in an illegal way or milicous matter, but this clearly explains 
how your cable modem works.  and besides, cableone CAN, i dunno if they do but they 
should, send out regular manual modem reboots.
