Suse 9.0 pro would be the best distro to for your needs. fedora is not stable! It is just a alpha/beta release of the Red Hat server distro [ or so I was told ] I've used older versions of Suse and It is wonderful for sys-admins or a newbies. Also, because I never miss a chance to bring awareness to others, you could build the Gnu/Linux your self.
