Just an idea... do you have the official Mandrake 10.0 ISO images? I had a lot of problems with earlier Mandrake Club releases of 10.0 Mandrake. I assume some of these problems where fixed prior to the final release. I put a copy of the official 10.0 release on our FTP site on April 15th.
Has anyone done a fresh install of the Official Mandrake 10.0 release? I would like to hear how it went and what you are doing with it. The Linux installfest is coming up soon (next month).

Response to 02fun-u2 post on "cd rot". That is exactly what I have been talking about!! It looks like little pen pricks or bubbles all over inside the media. Our personal CDs have always been in a pretty stable environment, so that's not the cause of our problems. The media simply doesn't last.
I wish someone would use the copyright and fraud laws so get the recording industry to replace these bad CDs. When the CD's originally came out the industry purported that they would last nearly forever, which is why a lot of people switched to them. Problem is that CD's apparently don't last forever. Additionally, I hate to say it... but most of my old vinyl records from the 70's and early 80's still look like they are in good shape. BTW, anyone have an old turntable? I need to convert some that vinyl into MP3s. My Linux server is apparently more stable then either media.
