This is a general tracking issue.
I'm fairly unhappy with the performance of cdm. Prior to integration, it was
actually fairly snappy, but some of the tricks used to achieve that turned out
to induce various bugs. I don't believe those changes ever hit the project
gate, even.
Consider this a placeholder suggesting that anyone with an interest could
beneficially put some effort into perf improvements in cdm, either under this
bug, or more specific bugs (which this bug should be set to depend on)
I'm filing at P4, since, in reasonable cases, performance isn't abhorrent,
merely bad, or very bad. I don't think this should block integration (counter
opinions welcome).
