When recommit fails, often times it will leave your workspace further back in
history than it was initially, this has confused users, and is generally the
wrong thing.
While certain errors in this case can't be gracefully recovered, in this
instance cdm should either return the workspace to its former parent revision,
or to the head of the current branch (always tip, because you can't reci with
active branches).
