Hi,

I used to work in an organisation which didn't have a web front-end to its
version control system so there would have been no way for them to just provide
a link to see the diffs. Each commit that was made against a bug resulted in
an attachment being made to that bug containing the diffs that were committed.
The attachments were named after the branches that the commits were made to, to
account for the frequent situation where you had to commit to quite a few
branches.

Strangely, on your first commit to a branch you'd get a "Diffs--branchname"
enclosure, and on the second you'd get a (if I recall correctly)
"Diffs--branchname.p3" enclosure. If such a scheme is implemented for scmbug,
I hope that the suffix numbers start from "2" and not "3" :)

Of course, nowadays I would think that attaching the diffs isn't the "right"
thing to do and that you should go to the version control system (via a link)
to see the diffs. I guess that since CVS doesn't do atomic commits, you can't
easily see ALL the diffs at once, which is probably a nice thing to be able to
do, but with Subversion I suppose you can?

Regards,
David

I think an XML-RPC mechanism for communicating with bugzilla is in the
works in Bugzilla 2.23.x.

I suppose it is also possible to add support for specifying in the log
message the name of a file you would like to attach, or some way of
retrieving that file.

But, what would be the purpose of the diff attachment in bugzilla ?
