Beat, I'm sure you could write a backend in Perl. The instructions on
how to do it are in:

Just follow the example from Bugzilla.pm.in, and I'll be right next to
you to integrate things.

But as you said, getting Fogcreek to support us in this would be the
ideal way to go. Contact them! They have nothing to lose.
