I had to go away for a while, sorry about that. Hopefully I can get on with this a lot more in the next few days. As far as I remember we had made the decision to ditch six. Step 1 is to make the code futurize -1 compliant and run under Python 2.7 then to decide whether to have the futurize dependency so as to go the whole Python 3.5 thing. The doubt was that some people didn't want the futurize dependency.
