In my quest to unroot obscure Scottish folk groups, I found an LP this
morning by a group called The Whistlebinkies (yes, really). It's on Deacon
Records from 1971, and the group, from Glasgow, consists of Jim Daly on
fiddle, Geordie McGovern on banjo and mandolin, guitar by Seane McGee, and
"vocals and effects" by the group leader, a "well known Scots comedian"
Michael Broderick. Has anyone heard of any of these people, know what else
they've been up to?
I also got a record with some tracks from a group from Chirnside (in the
Borders) called The Travellers. Any info?
