See you at the British Legion for the singaround on Friday night - the
Kelso club has closed for the night and relocated. Myself, Jim Johnstone
(the man who knows every 1950s to 70s folk-pop-rock song without needing
a book), maybe Alec Douglas (superb singer with a repertoire mainly
Corries era) and others will be there. We've been asked to start around
7.00pm but that's awfy early for the 'workers' so we may not really get
going until 8.00pm. I'll be arriving at 7.00pm since the organisers have
asked us to be there.

I may take along my copy of the Calvert of Kelso 1799 music which Philip
Whittaker (one of the Gaitherin organisers) made for me, and maybe also
a copy of Bremner's Instructions for Guitar 1758, and one or genuine old
books. Although it is a singaround at the Legion we're bringing one
fiddle player with us just to be awkward, as we find unremitted singing
just a bit limiting and you need a fiddler so you can go and get a beer :-)

As for the rest of the weekend, maybe, maybe not - very disappointed
that the Hirsel Craft Fair decided not to run, so there's nothing for
the non-musical members of family, and a lady I need to interview for an
article will not be in Coldstream but exhibiting at the Assembly Rooms
in Edinburgh instead, so we must go there on the Saturday. It's always a
problem with really local events. If I want to go 200 miles to
something, great - it's a day out! If I want to go 12 miles, entirely
different... we had planned to take a stand at the craft fair and be in
Coldstream all weekend, but with no craft fair, no chance of that. The
fair, by the way, has usually booked musicians and had open sessions and
a music tent for all comers plus people like folk instrument and harp
makers, so it would have brought additional players to the event. Pity.
