And thanks for answering in your usual intelligent and reasonable
manner. I'm a little wary about asking such questions because it can
produce some nasty reactions from indignant people. Thing is, I ask
because I'm not 100% sure about MY stance, and I'm interested to hear
other people's views.

That's more than half of the moral argument, perhaps...

I don't have the full story, but I remember reading that there has been
an ugly struggle over the rights of his music.

Try James Thin, a bookseller in Edinburgh. It's always been there when
I've visited the music dept, and they have an on-line service. Don't
have the URL handy, but a search on James Thin should work. For some
reason I've been putting off buying it, but I think anything with Tom's
fingerprints on it is worth looking at. (I have three books: Ringing
Strings, Da Mirrie Dancers and Haand me Doon da Fiddle, and I've seen
another, Gie's an A, another Shetland Times publication. I also have a
couple of single sheet publications - grand stuff!)

I'd love to see this too. As a jazz-loving student twenty-six years
ago, Tom Anderson's music was one of the lorelei which lured me towards
traditional music.
Anyway, thanks, John.
