TALISKER SUMMER
SESSIONS
An
Drochaid will be hosting another programme of traditional music sessions this
summer which, once again, are being sponsored by local distillery Talisker.
The aim of the programme is to stimulate local traditional music sessions
and will also hope to promote tourism in the area.
The idea is that each
venue will employ 2 'session leaders' who will play/sing traditional music on
each evening of the session programme. Eight venues are participating
in this year's programme, with an estimated 80 sessions taking place throughout
Skye & Lochalsh. The sessions will run from Tuesday 2nd July -
Saturday 7th September and will take place on Tuesday - Saturday evenings during
this period.
If you are based in the Skye & Lochalsh area, and are
interested or know anyone interested, in being a 'session leader', please let me
know asap as I am presently compiling a list which, although it will not be
comprehensive, will give those venues who need help with sourcing traditional
musicians, an idea as to who is willing to participate in the
programme.
Many thanks.
