OK, before I make my query, this is not intended to start a flame war, nor
am I really looking for a detailed comparison between Distros. I'm not a
complete newbie, although often you wouldn't know it. What I'm really after
is people's opinions on Debian. I know some people swear by it, and
difficult installations don't really hold that much fear for me. But how
good is the apt-get system, for instance. I always have big problems
installing software. RPMs are OK, but source code never compiles right for
me.
[ I realise that apt-get won't solve this, but it might ease the pain]
Of course, Ximian's new Red Carpet might be a better solution, but before I
part with any of my hard-earned cash I thought I'd ask you all for your
opinions on this particular distro.
