Anybody else installed this yet?
Tale of woe copied from the scotinstall list. I'm about to try it on a laptop
myself.
Willie

I'm hoping it's just a dodgy CD. Or maybe my
CD-ROM is just past it.
I tried installing the download CD, Willie gave us
at the meeting. When it got to the package listing
part, things started getting ropey. On one of
the consoles, I started getting the "DriveReady
SeekComplete Error" messages one normally associates
with a HD failure. There were also msgs pertaining to
the CD_ROM. After 5 minutes of nothing, I did Ctl-Alt-Del.
When it then got to the HD detection phase, I got
a primary hard disk failure. Switching the machine
off and back on, things seemed to be back to normal.
I did a Slack install, ok. Then I tried Mandrake again,
and the same probs appeared.
I just wonder if it's my 4/5 yr old CD-ROM, an error on
the CD (which looks OK,) or something in the boot image
Mandrake uses which is a bit flakey.
