...and you can't use one of the PCs because......
In addition, an Atari ST will do VT52 out of the box. Amstrad NC notebooks
do vt100.
Of course if you really wanted to be smart, for testing purposes, you could
connect the two serial ports on the Linux box, run the DOSEmu on one
console and the serial port, and minicom / seyon / whatever on another
console.
For most DOS programs, you'll probably need an ANSI emulation which is not
quite the same as VT*.
Long term - you can still buy new serial terminals off the shelf, but
expect to pay at least 300. Second hand, because of their esoteric nature,
PCs are cheaper. You may be able to pick up something at the Barras /
auction for a few pounds. If it absolutely must be a terminal, let me know
and I'll try to dig out a recent copy of ECM (which has adverts from
computer salvage cos).
Here's some links....
http://www.first.gmd.de/persons/leo/java/Telnet/
- Java vt* emulator - GPL - uses telnet for connection
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
- free vt* emulator for MS Windows, uses telnet / ssh
http://www.cs.utk.edu/~shuford/terminal_index.html
- terminal reference material.
(there's a very good free vt100/220 serial emulator for DOS out there,
can't remember what its called - you'll get it on Sunsite)
