I all ready seem to have gotten away with this, I have 2 Digital VT320s
(haven't taken the spary paint to them yet).

I found the Serial and Text Terminal HOWTOs a tad heavy handed when I wen't
to set up, it was hard to locate the info I needed. A quick google at the
net with some choice key words got me the exact setup info that I wanted -
the next step if to unplug the keyboard and monitor and get one running as
the main console.

BTW CAT5 is a great media for nice long serial cables.

At glasgow caledonian university library there is a room packed full of
old terminals all piled up, I think they are "digital" (as in the
company). When I arrived 6 years ago or so, that's all the library had.
Now there's only about 3 being used. I suppose you could call asking if
they'd let you take a couple off their hands? I think they are really
cool, and would love some in strategic places, perhaps in strategic
funky colours around my future house, running pine and a text based
matrix screensaver, but my girlfriend disapproves :(
