Morning all,
got ADSL installed yesterday, it's great, I'm loving the broadband
revolution.
Problem is that the USB modem use PPoPa which I know nothing about, and to
tell the truth I have never used anything more complicated than a mouse
plugged into a USB port (under Linux anyways).
So I'm putting some feelers out to find out if anyone has any advice on
setting up a NAT server running Linux.
I downloaded both ISO images for Mandrake 8.0 (kernel 2.4 I think). Anyone
got any ides on the next steps?
I'm looking for info on the following topics:-
SpeedTouch modem drivers
USB Config and running
PPoPa
MASQ under 2.4 (I've heard it can do full NAT so DCC would work on private
to public side)
Port forwarding (use bizarre ports so that an incoming connection on port X
of the external side would be forwarded to port 23 of a machine on the
private side of the network)
and general advice on firewalling under 2.4
I don't want much do I?
Chrs,
IWD
