Martin,

I have this card (SB 64PCI) - uses the es1371 driver. What you can try
doing is

1. run 'modprobe es1371' - then run 'lsmod' to see if the driver
(module) has been loaded.

2. If you are using a Red Hat based system (Red Hat, Mandrake ?SUSe?) you
can try this route:
        open /etc/modules.conf in a text editor
        add the line

        alias /dev/dsp  es1371

        to this file. This means when an application tries to access the
sound device (/dev/dsp) the kernel should automagically load the module
needed.
