If the module has loaded, i think you can presume that the card has been 
found. What players are you using under KDE? Or is it the system sounds that 
are missing? I know that KDE2 has a sound server, and that basically grabs the
soundcard for its own purposes.

I also forgot to mention how to get the module loaded on boot. Open 
'/etc/rc.d/rc.modules' in you favourite text editor, and uncoment the command 
'/sbin/modprobe es1371' Now the modules will get loaded upon boot-up. 

Is it Slackware 7.1 you are running? Any more info greatly appreciated.
