I have got a modem for my Gameboy for almost nothing (evidently it didn't
take off and the shops want to make room for new stock. The idea is that it
will dial up to a dedicated service and allow you to send email, however it
charges 25p per minute so I obviously will not be using this facility.
However I would like to connect it to my Linux box, just to see what
happens and maybe, just maybe I will come up with something useful?

I'm not sure how to connect the two modems and I would greatly appreciate
any advice.

The first problem is I assume I will need to make a cable that crosses over
the communications lines, but I don't know which lines to cross, which to
connect straight though and which to ignore.

Secondly I assume the Gameboy modem will wait for a dialtone before
dialling, is there any easy and cheap way to persuade the Gameboy that
there really is a PSTN at the other end, rather than just a modem which
will simply ignore the number it dials.

Thanks in advance,
Steven Murdoch.
