[scottish] Spaces....the final frontier

This is a little vague.....but am'nt I always?

Linux, and unices in general have lots of lovely tools for playing with 
files. Unfortunately most of them fall apart when faced with a 
filename/path which has spaces in it.  Has anybody out there addressed this 
problem? Any ideas? tools? code?
