The main idea for the mail thing (which I've still to do) was to set up an internal e-mail system and use the linux box as the server. I thought I might as well get it to process the internet (yes, POP) mail at the same time. I'll download fetchmail now and can you help me with the other stuff please.

In that case, fetchmail - http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/fetchmail/ - will pull the mail off and hand it over to linux (sendmail or whatever you are using). Dunno how you then get Windows to take the mail from linux. Why do you want to do this anyway? I could see the point if you were getting a proper SMTP mail delivery - a la demon. But your mail is already in POP boxes, yes? So why put linux in the way, rather than just letting the Windows boxes read the POP directly? If they are able to browse the web through your linux box then they'll be able to get POP3 mail too. t > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Chris Dickson > Sent: 30 September 2001 22:22 > To: SLUG (E-mail) > Subject: [scottish] Setting up a mail server > > > I just got Red Hat 7.1 and installed it, I have never used any > kind of linux > before and at the moment my impressions are quite good.
