My CM gives me a 'real' IP address on the connected device. This
configuration suggests that yours does masquerading? The address you have
'reserved' is non-routable so if your lanmodem is not masquerading it won't
work. I'd make sure you are running with a 'stock' config on your lanmodem
and not try to reserve any addresses. See what you get with DHCP. Use
'traceroute -i eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' where the latter is a numerical ip
address and see if packets are going any further than your lanmodem. If
they are simply not getting to their destination then you may not have your
lanmodem correctly registered with your supplier (says the man who spent
many long hours on the NTL support line to find out that their software
allows users to type capital 'o' in the MAC address).
