Mines online for at least 12 hours a day , which is bad. Especially when you realise that i have to dial into a location in London ( national rate ) , thats >1,000 ( sometimes 2,000 ) a month in phone bills. Thankfully my employer picks up the tab. > I am just > regretting the fact that I may _have_ to use Microsnot to get online! Well i just chatted with one of my LUG contacts from back down South and he's pretty confident that the Smoothwall firewall is already set up ( and if it isn't it will be shortly ) to work with the new ISDN box. The other alternative ( i know from bitter experience ) is to connect via ISDN with windows and use it as a proxy for your Linux box. Not exactly an impressive use of technology , but you get the full speed on your Linux box then ( and if , as i did , you hide the windows laptop under the bed , then no-one will ever know that your degrading yourself with windows ). It could be , and was , even worse for me. Whats worse than using windows as a proxy for Linux? Using a windows box running AOL as a proxy for Linux!
