Willie and all Thanks for the reply the solution was as follows :- IN /etc/lilo.conf was an iten in the first append enableapic. image = /boot/vmlinuz label = linux root = /dev/hdc2 initrd = /boot/initrd append = "enableapic hdd=ide-scsi"
This needed to be changed to disableapic. The system then was rebooted and thus far all is well. bob renshaw > On Monday 03 December 2001 10:23, you wrote: > > I ve installed suse 7.3 with kde 2.2 the present kernel is 2.4.10. > > > > The problem is that kde applications keep crashing or disappearing off > > the screen as if they have been shutdown. has anyone had this problem or > > might know a solution > > Is this a fresh install of 7.3 or an upgrade? > KDE 2.2.1? > > Does anything at all run for any length of time or do all KDE apps shut > down?
