Also, in FreeBSD there is a utility called Dummynet, I did a mini-thesis on 
this not long ago.  A floppy can be downloaded to configure the dummynet 
(search google for PicoBSD).  This will let you simulate many conditions 
including bandwidth, losses, delays and mutlipath probabilities (simulating 
many routers).
