Hello again.

Most of my previous experience with *N*X systems has been with Solaris, and
was a few years ago, so I might be misremembering, but...

I'm starting to get to grips with Mandrake 8, and I find it's not always
behaving the way I'd expect it to. When I use a command like !4 at the
command line in a KDE terminal window, it takes me back not to the 4th
command in that window, but to the 4th command made since logging on, which
is generally something completely different. My memory of Solaris was that
it would take you to the appropriate command in that particular window. Is
this a difference between Linux and Solaris, or between the bash and c
shells? More importantly, how do I configure my system so that the history
commands work for an individual window, not the history of an entire session?
