Hi Folks After a few months trying out XP (quite favourably) I have decided to get back into murky waters and stick linux back on my machine. Rusty is not the term for it. I have never had any alligience to any distro, so dug out my old cd roms and found the only one that the kids hadn't scrathed or ruined was mandrake 7.2.
Seems strange though that the reccomended install doesn;t include gcc or makefile but anyhoo. I think I will try again with a full install and see how i get on. I am installing it on a spare hardrive, and keeping xp as the default ( she wont use linux). Problem is when i custom install with all the packages I want i run out of space after installing other things. The HD has 2500MB. Anyone reccomend somthing easily configurable, that will fit in about 1.5GB? Anyone willing to copy me somthing? (I dont have broadband anymore since i moved, and i dont wont to spend a week downloading a distro, although i could get cheapbytes versions) Anyway on to why i wrote this message. I have a epson stylus colour 580, and it is suported with gimp print. has anyone any experience with this? I am going to install it with cups. Still haven't got the new gimp installed which it needs as the feckin install missed chunks of things i need.
