This is very true. However, as a Java/JSP programmer developing n-tier solutions, I can also tell you that hosting solutions in Scotland are pathetic with respect to support for Java on the server. Good luck finding someone that will host it.
I use Rackspace in the US. Nice deal, great remote admin, and OK prices. Plus, I have a server at home with a complete Java-based app server installed. By the way, I love JSP (at least tag libraries--OO, extensible, seperates biz logic from HTML code in a way no other tech does), and wouldn't personally go with anything else. Of course, there are folks that say the same thing about PHP (well, for different reasons, anyway). -dan -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Lawrence Sweeney Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 3:16 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [scottish] OT: Web Site / Web App developers. For designing a dynamic site, with a java backend, java is not required to be installed on a clients computer. You, as a client never need to know how the page was generated. cheers Lawrence -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lug.org.uk http://www.linuxportal.co.uk http://www.linuxjob.co.uk http://www.linuxshop.co.uk -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lug.org.uk http://www.linuxportal.co.uk http://www.linuxjob.co.uk http://www.linuxshop.co.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------
