Have a look at the X error log - it should explain why the server is crashing [assuming it is attempting to start in the first place].
I found my SuSE 7.3 one in /var/log/XFree86.0.log, but yours may be elsewhere. (You may also want to look in your home directory for .xsession-errors, but that relates more to applications using the running server rather than a crashing server) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Original Message <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< On 14/02/02, 23:08:36, Tom Shearer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote regarding [scottish] Help, I've knackered my x-server: > Help, I've done something to my x-server while trying to configure an > external modem (using Mandrake's Drakconf and KPP tools). > When I boot up, Linux itself starts, but only in text mode.
