Its just that theres so much to get done, informix, firewalling, dns
samba etc that sometimes its easier to use a front-end tool
or just pick defaults to get something up and working.
However, I just bought an ATI radeon 128 VE graphics card which only works
with XFree86 4.2. I have downloaded and compiled the source but know I have
a lot more to do such as edit to XF86config file and make sure the correct
files are being run on start up. So this is prob a good time to learn more
about how X is put together in my distro.
