Hi, I want to write a GUI telnet client with groovy features (a mud client if that means anything to people).
I'd want it to be cross-platform (i.e. windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP and unix) compatible. What language/toolkit should I be looking to use? I'd prefer to do the programming in C. I've found a nice (open source) client which uses C with gtk which I could start from, how easy is it for GTK to run under win32 for people who would want to use the software? Can I provide a statically linked binary? (I'm not trying to hide the source, just make it easy to use for the average windows punter). Do (good) free compilers (not necessarily IDEs) exist for windows? If only everyone used linux, then I wouldn't need to worry about these things. Sorry for being so vague. Thanks, Allan -- Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lug.org.uk http://www.linuxportal.co.uk http://www.linuxjob.co.uk http://www.linuxshop.co.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------
