Some may also need IP address set up. You'll probably find that like many other devices they use standard protocols like DHCP / telnet but the people selling them <insert much swearing and rude gestures here>
NB I've not tried any of these myself...the Intel wireless gateway has a built-in webserver for configuration. I'd stear clear of D-Link. SMC claims their 7004AWBR is 'platform independent'. Try tracking down the product info on the web. Also don't be shy about approaching manufacturers directly - even if the answer is 'no' pestering them for Linux support is a good idea. If you've a hardwired Linux box - why not put a wireless card in it and use it for a router?
