Yeah it does usually, thats the capacity of a GSM time slot, which is all a Circuit Switched Data connection is. I think HSCSD (High Speed CSD) is 14.4K, or slightly higher, that uses two GSM time slots so you pay for two concurrent calls. Unless data rates have gone up, but didn't think E.D.G.E had been rolled-out in the UK. And then theres GPRS, where the data rates vary, with a theoretical (never seen offered by a PLMN let alone experienced!) limit of >100kb/s. But of course you need a GPRS fone and account, but worth it, only pay for the data xferred not online time.
