At �50 each for APs and PC cards the SMC kit is cheap in PC World.  You can
even afford to put in multiple AP's at that price.  I find coverage through
my house is poor but then again I've got some 2 foot thick internal stone
walls to deal with (hence the need for wireless, you can't win really).
Outdoor coverage is closer to the published specs but who needs a laptop in
the pissing rain?

Not sure about Linux support for these since I use Linux hosted under VMware
on Windows nowadays but the AP software runs via a web interface so that
shouldn't be a problem.
