Go buy a mac :o) What kind of modem have you got? Is it a USB one or a Serial one?
Type "ls -l /dev/modem" and tell us what it says. There's a SuSE diagnostic tool, it's call "siga" or something (it's in the manual) if you could post the output of that on a website or something that may help. Each of the boot disks boots a different kernel IIRC. Possibly the kernel on disc one is not compatible with your machine for whatever reason? Does this disc work for installing packages from? Wallpaper? - Mac's are good value for money these days :o) > When I have typed in the "mount/dev" commands I don't seem to get a clickable or command-able! Linux isn't anymore difficult than any other OS, in fact for the most part i have to say it is quite logical in it's layout, it is *different* though, so don't expect to be a power user of windows and have all your skills transfer.
