Hi Stephen, Hope you are having a nice Christmas. With regards to the X libraries problem I have attempted to install other software and I keep getting the cannot locate the X libraries error. I believe that some environment variable is supposed to be set. Is there any utility I can execute to check my X library settings? Thanks.

Kate should just run without sudo (unless you want it as root) so what are you trying to do? I'm at a loss re the X libraries location unknown, was it a clean install with no errors?
