I've had this in my ~/.bashrc for ages, but now I've switched from
xterm to gnome-terminal:
screen)
PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -ne
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]:${PWD/$HOME/[EMAIL PROTECTED]:${PWD/$HOME/~}\033\134\033"'
;;
Instead of a nice coloured prompt I get:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
The text I expect is:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
Any escape code gurus here?
