In my experience Maxtor and IBM are at the top of the list and if
pushed, I'd have to rank them with IBM first and Maxtor second. Western
Digital seems to have dropped significantly over the past year or two so
I'd put it toward the bottom. All the rest are somewhere in between. I
was planning on an IBM Deskstar 75GXP 45Gb. for my new box, but I came
into a Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 45Gb. with an ATA/100 controller card
that I don't need and will probably sell. $50.00 rebate for the set
which came in at $165.00. Makes my net outlay about $90.00 if I sell the
controller card. Too good to pass up in my opinion.
