I don't know what you are talking about. Any decent 300 or larger,
watt power supply will do for an Athlon and cas2 Crucial RAM costs
only $5 more than cas3. With the current price of RAM why wouldn't you
get as much and as fast as possible. You don't save much if you don't.
Buy an Antec case and get a quality powersupply as a throw in.

The A7V was a first generation Tbird board. It was good but plagued
with problems most of which were cured with bios updates. I have one
and am quite happy with it. It requires careful setup but once
properly set up it runs like a champ. At first I had my FSB miss set
and this caused me no end of problems. But once I found out my mistake
and corrected it, I have had no problems since. It does require a good
heatsink and HSF.

So I disagree with you. The PIII is dead. the AthlonXP is as fast as
the PIV and is much cheaper. Why would you run anything else. Unless I
wanted to use my computer as a multimedia center with Stereo and TV
mixed in. Then I would use a PIII because it runs cooler and doesn't
require such noisy fans. You could then keep it in the same room with
your home entertainment equipotent and not be disturbed by the noise.
But for performance the Athlon kicks Penitum butt.
