Is the pronunciation subject to restrictions? Do we as a community adhere to any national orders? Enjoy the fact that we are not all the same and pronounce words differently. I used to say Line-Ux for Linux until I learnt that the name was a a joining of Linus and Minix (an OS) and so try (and often fail) to respect the original pronunciation (Lin-Ux). Who thought of Scribus as a name and how was its original pronunciation intended? It would be interesting to know but not the final answer.
