Mike, Kurt is the one that can create new categories, and he has been exceedingly busy of late with the Perl6 project. However, he tends to go with whatever the majority of the folks on the list think is reasonable. I personally have little opinion on this. Although I think that 'device' is sufficiently generic as to be meaningless to most folk, I think that within a certain circle (ie, folks used to Unix) it may have a more specific meaning.
