Just two cents, but David mentioned uploading sdlperl2.0 once he was back in
civilization. I'm not sure how long of a time he was referring, but maybe it
would make sense to wait until you can get your hands on it? You've been
doing an amazing amount of work on sdlperl and I'd hate to see your work
undermined by an sdlperl2.0 surfacing around the same time as your own
release, which apparently, will be forked because now there will be two
takes of sdlperl being built off of the same base code. I don't know much
about sdlperl2.0 other than that I remember David mentioning that everything
was changed to scalar references for a speed increase. (unfortunately i also
remember a few complaints about some of it not working). Since i don't know
much about it, I don't know if you can patch them together or not... but
this might be something to consider as you continue working on sdlperl. I'm
a big advocate of not working more than you have to, especially when not
getting paid. Also at the current moment I don't believe there are any
projects going on that depend on sdlperl, so there's really no rush to come
to a release.
If David's on the list and get's this message, maybe he can provide you with
a link or an upload of sdlperl2.0
