The movie stars Sean Connery as Joe Skyward, and Michael Maronna from 'Pete &
Pete' as Nate Mendel. Connery's accent still rides the nerves, and his
attitude is as in all of his films, but the chase scene is a little bit
original. I hear Ron Howard really wanted their love of music to show, even
with all the action, violence and all...
Anyhow, this letter is kind of a reply to Ben, but it works with the
Discussion end of the sdre-l.
B: dave grohl is a punk that rsn off to california to RE-RECORD wills drum
tracks for "the colour and the shape".
A: When I read that on Ansigod's website, I was blown away. What the Christ
is that all about? That's just plain rude. I'm guessing William got much too
creative for Dave's plainrock anthems, so he toned it down. Which is
understandable, seeing as it is basically Dave's band, but he could of at
least asked William what he expected from him, instead of re-recording a Drum
Legend's tracks. That's insane. I hope to Christ that somewhere those
original tracks still exist. Even if I never get to hear them, just knowing
they are safe would be a weight off my back. I wish Ansigod could have been
more in depth about what that was all about.
B: i thought nate would get pissed after being in sdre with will but he's
still with 'em.
A: It does seem a bit suspect, and just as shocking as Dave's inconsiderate
actions. But I also feel Nate had had it with SDRE. I've never heard anything
of Nate's feelings about Sunny Day, but you could tell he was angry at the
fact he had to defend his dignity on the old sdre-l to his own fans. Anyone
remember that letter he posted? He probably wanted nothing more to do with
the "scene," but I am wondering if him and William are still on friendly
terms? Nate is a rad bassist.
B: i dont think nate sucks, but i have to hold something against him for
quitting sunny day to play with grohl (who is a better drummer than singer)
A: I think Nate should have a right to play with whomever he wants without
someone holding grudges against him, but I just can't imagine forsaking such
brilliance as SDRE for near fashion rock like Foo Fighters. I actually like
'The Colour and The Shape,' but at times it does feel too Of The Times, like
Dave's not worried about creating something people will like forever instead
of a month or two. But as for his drumming, I think Dave is awesome. Doesn't
compare to William, but he's still awesome to me.
B: joe skyward
A: Extremely upset Nate left, not even curious of how Joe would do, I went to
see the band because of the three others. Though I had nothing against him, I
was too eager to see Dan and Jeremy and William on the same stage to mind
much attention to the new bassist, seeing as how they broke up before I could
ever see them live. And Joe rocked. I am really happy with Joe's bass, and
can't wait to see what he does on the new album when the basslines are
completely on his shoulders.
Sorry so long, but I just can't help it. I hope I am not too boring here.
Thank you.
Alan.
