actually, I agree with that and have had that stance for awhile. Though
I don't think America needs to be any more depressed than they are.
Lyrically, as emo grows more popular, and therefore more overdone, it's
similarity to country music grows at an astounding rate. Because there
are so many emo bands out there now, there doesn't really have to be
anything special about what they sing about.
The pioneers had to REALLY EMOTE their feelings, because people weren't
in the mindset to hear it.
Now people are not looking so much for what emo really is, but what it's
become, which is really a faded impression left by too long in the
spotlight. I think that's the problem. The way I see it, emo isn't
spotlight music. It's a secret treasure, that's what drew me in. I
couldn't tell you what emo REALLY is, I can't tell you what it was to
begin with. I don't care. I know what bands I like, and I don't care what
people call them.
And I know I like Sunny Day Real Estate.
