i guess i just don't see things the way you guys do...
personally, as much as i like Diary and LP2, i'm so glad that the band has
gotten back together and moved in new directions. i think that if SDRE
hadn't gotten back together, and then tried to do other things, that
everything they did would be measured against SDRE, and that wouldn't be
fair. as it is now, the 'new' band is measured against the 'old' band, and
that's a fair comparision. like it or not, that's your thing. i like the
new albums [HITFTBSO & Tide], becuase i think that if they'd made two more
albums that sounded just like Diary or LP2, i'd be so bored of them i'd
puke. i'm glad that they're pushing the Sunny Day envelope.
i feel lucky that the band is back together, or i would have never had the
chance to meet them, or see them live. and if they decided tomorrow to
never play another pre-HITFTBSO again, i'd be ok with it. for instance,
i've seen them play Seven now, they don't ever have to play it again [since
apparently one of them doesn't like to].
